More than 110 American and German press representatives covered the President and Chancellor's trip to Cape Kennedy. The President, Chancellor and others were given a tour of NASA facilities by NASA Administrator James E. Webb. The President's party viewed several launch complexes on a motor tour through NASA facilities. After the tour, the President made a speech with ended with the line: "The earth moves on, and the heavens wait." The President's motorcade then proceeded to Pad A, went up an elevator, and inspected the 500 F.
